Topic 1 Biodiversity of urban-industrial areas and its evaluation
The biodiversity of urban-industrial ecosystems has its own distinctive characteristics in the same way as the biodiversity of natural and semi-natural (cultural) ecosystems. Within this topic the evolution and value of this urban biodiversity at different scales will be discussed.
Keynote: Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Wittig, J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany
Sessions: Please download the Detailed Program
Topic 2 Cultural aspects of urban biodiversity
In urban-industrial ecosystems and their habitats non-native species play an important role. This topic will focus on the evaluation of non-native species and man made habitats in urban areas.
Keynote: Dr. Andy Millard, Leeds Metropolitan University, United Kingdom
Sessions: Please download the Detailed Program
Topic 3 Social aspects of urban biodiversity
This topic will examine aspects of the mutualistic relationship between society and biodiversity in the city environment, and will explore imperatives for sustainable management of urban nature.
Keynote: Prof. Dr. Sarel Cilliers, North-West University - Potchefstroom Campus, South Africa
Sessions: Please download the Detailed Program
Topic 4 Urban biodiversity & climate change
Cities and urbanisation are main drivers of climate change. In this session, recorded and predicted relationships between climate change and urban biodiversity will be examined.
Keynote: Dr. David J. Nowak, USDA Forest Service, Northern Research Station, Syracuse, USA
Sessions: Please download the Detailed Program
Topic 5 Design and future of urban biodiversity
How to design and manage urban-industrial areas in a sustainable way will be the focus of this topic.
Keynote: Prof. Dr. Maria Ignatieva, Lincoln University Christchurch, New Zealand
